Landscape Installation
Landscape installation is the process of transforming an outdoor property through the placement and establishment of living landscape features. Our installation brings together healthy soil, trees, shrubs, plants, lawns, garden beds and finishing materials to create an attractive and functional outdoor environment.
Professional landscape installation begins with preparing the property for the new landscape. Existing unwanted vegetation and loose material may need to be removed before new landscape features are introduced. The condition of the soil is also important because healthy plant growth depends on having suitable soil with the nutrients and organic matter needed to support roots.
Soil Preparation and Garden Beds
Good soil preparation provides the foundation for successful landscape installation. Existing soil conditions in the Cowichan Valley can vary considerably between properties, and additional topsoil, compost or organic material may be required to create suitable growing conditions.
We make garden beds for trees, shrubs, perennials and seasonal plants. Soil depth and quality are important considerations because different plants develop different root systems and have different growing requirements.
Once we have completed planting, mulch is applied throughout garden beds. Mulch provides a clean finished appearance while helping retain soil moisture and suppress unwanted weed growth. Organic mulch can also contribute organic matter to the soil as it gradually breaks down.

Tree and Shrub Installation
Trees and shrubs provide much of the permanent structure within a planted landscape. We only install healthy plant material and by installing it correctly we give new plants the best opportunity to establish themselves.
Plant placement should provide enough room for each tree or shrub to reach its mature size without becoming overcrowded. Newly installed plants require appropriate soil contact around their root systems and consistent care while becoming established.
We install smaller shrubs and perennial plants around larger specimens to create layered garden areas. Combining plants with different heights, textures and seasonal characteristics can provide interest throughout the year.
Lawn Installation
Natural lawn is another common part of landscape installation. New sod provides an immediate green surface and can quickly transform unfinished outdoor areas.
We make sure we have ideal growing conditions by providing the best soil for the sod to establish strong roots. After installation, consistent watering and our mowing skills help the new lawn become established.
We also refresh lawns as part of a larger landscape installation. Improving thin or damaged areas can help create a consistent transition between established portions of a property and newly completed garden areas.
Finishing a Landscape Installation
The final stage of landscape installation involves our team completing the smaller details that bring the property together. Garden beds are cleaned and finished, mulch is placed evenly, lawn edges are defined, excess materials are removed and newly installed plants are checked.
A well-executed landscape installation should look finished when the work is completed while also providing the conditions necessary for plants and lawns to mature successfully.
We provide regular care during the establishment period as it is particularly important. Watering, pruning, feeding, weed control and seasonal maintenance allow newly installed landscapes to develop into healthy outdoor spaces that continue improving as trees, shrubs and plants mature.
