Frequently Asked Questions.
When should i turn my irrigation system on?
The exact date will depend on the weather, but we usually start planning start up service calls for the start of April. This does not imply that day will be spent running! All it does is give us a chance to send a irrigation person to thoroughly inspect everything and make any necessary corrections or repairs before the warm weather starts. When it’s spring, all you need to do is start the irrigation program
When should i turn Off my Sprinklers?
Everyones gardens are unique and requires modification. By late September, if your turf and plantings are well-established, we can turn everything off. In the fall, when you plant new grass or shrubs, we can setup an irrigation program to function at the best times and shut off by Sept/Oct. We advise you to turn everything off by the first of November. This will reduce the cost for repairs.
How many sprinkler heads are there in a zone?
The pressure (PSI) and velocity (GPM) that are available on the property are used to determine how many zones needed for your outdoors. The shape and required coverage will also be impacted by the type of irrigation heads you will need.
Are Wi-Fi and Smart irrigation Controllers available?
Indeed. These smart irrigation controllers are helpful to many customers because they allow them to control everything from a distance. They are also well-liked for their capacity to conserve water, system notifications, and adaptations made in response to local weather forecasts.
These can be added to existing irrigation or during the installation process.
Which season is ideal for irrigation installation in Nanaimo?
As long as the temperature is always above freezing and the garden is not frozen, we can provide irrigation installation most of the year round. The sprinklers should ideally be installed before a new lawn is installed.
Can i have my irrigation on a well supply?
Yes, first you will need to figure out if the well can handle the extra amount of water being used for the new system and if it can replenish it in a reasonable time frame, while also supplying the house. You may need to get a holding tank to help provide water to both the home and the irrigation.
How long does it take to build new irrigation sprinkler zones for my home?
While every installation is unique and will depend on the size and complexity of the job, our service person typically allots 5-8 days for a typical garden-sized install.
I see that the heads are leaking, but everything else is off. How should I proceed?
Remaining liquid in the lines will exit at the lowest point, depending on the land’s contour. It might be necessary to flush the valve if the leak persists in the head even after a short time. For services appointment scheduling, give our Nanaimo irrigation repairs team a call.
When is it appropriate to blow out sprinkler systems in Nanaimo?
To help reduce repairs, we advised having everything blown out in Nanaimo in October, or as soon as the weather forecast called for temperatures below zero.
The timing of blowout is dependent upon the area in which you reside. Blowout can start in some areas as early as August and last until the beginning of December because ground temperatures drop more slowly than air temperatures.
No matter where you live, in order to prevent damage to your sprinklers and valves, it’s critical to have your irrigation winterization before the temperatures regularly dip below 32° F.
