Do I need a landscape architect or is a landscape designer enough? — Most residential projects in Nanaimo don’t need a licensed landscape architect – an experienced landscape designer can handle grading, hardscape layout, planting plans and irrigation design.
What’s included in an architectural landscape design? — An onsite consultation, site measurements, a visual plan (2D or 3D), a materials/plant list, and a full quote broken down by area of work.

If the job isn’t too big, too detailed then it may be more cost efficient to do a basic hand render with the quote, as most people find that some form of plan is easier to visualize.
Once this step is complete we will take site information in the form of grades, measurements and detailed notes ie slopes, points of access, irrigation connections, walls, property lines etc. To do this we will use tape measures, laser & site levels and gnss equipment.
After the consultation, we will go back to the office and create a plan as well as a detailed quote. This will give you a visual representation of the job, and a breakdown of all the areas of work to be carried out. We will also give pricing for each area.
Our landscape consultations cost $195, and our 2D designs start at $650, depending how detailed the landscape is. The full process of plan creation and quote with take 3-4 weeks. Once completed we will arrange another meeting with you to present you with the complete package of plans, materials, labour and plant lists along with the detailed exact quote to go with it. At this time, you are welcome to use our plan to get quotes from other landscape contractors.
We also offer 3D designs starting at $1500, but are based on the property and the size of the concept.

These are great for those that don’t have time for additional yard work. Our schedule can get booked up pretty quick in the summer, but we do our best to fit everyone in. We only added jobs to the schedule once a contract is signed and a deposit received.
